TAYLOR SWIFT UPDATE by AngelasPortraits TAYLOR SWIFT UPDATE by AngelasPortraits
This is my entry for the Draw This Again contest.

There is 18 months between these two drawings.

Still not happy with it!
Another couple of hours would have been good, but I was losing the will to live!!
LOL

She is pretty, but her face is so difficult to draw.
She has tiny eyes, and a weird shadowy thing round her bottom lip and a shadow that comes from her eyebrows and joins the top of her nose ...

There is a lot of drawings I would like to do again, I just don't have a spare few years!!

A3 Bristol Board Extra Smooth
Mechanical pencil
Graphite pencil
Cotton buds
Pencil eraser

Thanks for looking:blowkiss:

I can't wait till i feel ready to do this.
The newer drawing has a much more smoother, even use of tone and the hair is neater. The new artwork shows more shadow and defined shapes. And darker tones.
But then i like how the hair looks a little more scruffy in the old picture, it's more realistic.

For me, it's a tie. I can't decided which one I prefer. I like the crispness of the after picture, and the eyes are definitely better than they were before. I love the hair as well with the neatness, but that's where I like the first one as well. I like the wildness of the first ones hair, and the way that it isn't too perfect. And because of me being me, I can notice that in the more recent picture, you have done the ends of the hair differently than the first one, but it is also different to the reference as well because of this. Also, in the first one, the face shape is more like the reference. In the more recent picture, the cheeks stick out a little more and at the top of her parting her hair isn't as straight as you have made it, if you understand that. Oh, and the bracelet, you have only got the love (which is better than the first) but you haven't added the 'in'. However, I love them both very much and I love different aspects from each picture, but I do love the more recent picture more because of the crispness, and I love that effect! :)

It's hard to say which I like more. The second one looks neater and more accurate, especially with the subtle curve of her forearm, but the first has a more natural feel with its wisps of hair and midtone shading. I think the second is a better likeness because you captured that characteristic squinty look in her eyes. Both are beautiful as usual. :)

They both have features that I like very much! The old version has very detailed hair, which looks very realistic to me, but the new one has more Taylor -like features, like her eyes and mouth. You did awesome job Angela

i actually like the 'before' one more (ah i hope that doesn't make me sound mean now).
maybe it's because of the hair, the white single hair strands really make it look like it's really volumized and give it a really realistic touch.
also i feel like there is more playing with the lights and darks, like on the hand and cheek, chin part.
but i also like your new drawing. i love the eyes especially. they really stand out and are really pretty.
i can't do the half of it so i'm probably not even the right person to say which is better. :aww:

I think the reason some people prefer the older version is that you achieved more depth with highlights on her face and hair. it makes her look more natural, while the new version looks a bit flat, lacks a little volume. but the new version has much better proportions and it is visible that you spent more time on details. both versions are amazing imho ;p

They both look great! Some parts I prefer on the old version, others on the new one. But the new one looks more complete, your style is a lot stronger there so everything fits together perfectly!

I agree, I think the new one looks more structured, I hate the white parts under her eyes and down her nose on the old one and those strands of hair are hideous!!

I really like the 'before' more, there seems to be more detail and she seems to be a bit more realistic. They are both really pretty, I love the shading in the 'after' in the hair and clothing...but I prefer the first one more. :D good luck in the contest!
